Fizzy Fair Isle Yell & Fetlar
The winter progressed with even more snow.
Even poor Rasmie got snow dingleberries!

It can be beautiful but it does hinder movement. We live off a road that's not gritted til late afternoon and I'm not a fan of driving on untreated roads. I did reschedule and spend 2 weekends in Yell and Fetlar. In Yell I visited north and south of the island; Ulsta and Sellafirth. Both communities have lovely public halls. These halls, like most in Shetland were founded and run on Sunday Teas. There is an army of homebakers who contribute to a plethora of fundraising activities throughout Shetland, in a way the community of Shetland is really built on fancies!

We had a lovely day and like with the Gloril project, everyone enjoyed getting around the table and yarning.

I even met one of my old schoolfriend's Mam and I can see where he gets his sense of humour from.

My acccomodation looked onto the Ulsta Pier and I could watch the ferry heading back and fore to the Mainland and watch the ever changing skies.

A few folk left before I remembered to take a photo but we had a lovely day.

It was lovely to be back in Fetlar again and catch up with some of the Lampshade knitters from the previous year. I love sharing this technique - it's a great way to introduce more colour into fair isle knitting and makes a lovely woven like fabric. I have run classes on it during Wool Week and now have an online class available too.
