Filskit - Fizzy Fair Isle - Unst

Filskit - Fizzy Fair Isle - Unst

The winter of 2023/2024 saw me repeat my isles tour this time to share my new Fizzy Fair Isle technique. I first combined slip stitch and fair isle knitting around 2010 and was keen to share the technique around the isles. Shetland arts funded the project through Culture Collective and Creative Scotland and I was able to embark on my winter workshop tour again!

I do love Unst and always feel very welcome there as it's the isle my Mam grew up in and the place we took and still take our holidays every year. It's also the home of Shetland Lace knitting and I could spend hours gazing at the displays in the Unst Heritage Centre.

Anna's gorgeous hands.

Our Yell visitor pointing out her way home!

Angela with her gorgeous yoke cardigan and her new wristlets. Angela was one of the, very welcome, visitors to my Slew Deckchair project. You can read more about the in the Slew Deckchair Challenge  blog.

Hazel's gorgeous colour choices.

I was not as lucky with the weather as I had been the previous winter and had many rearranged and cancelled classes. Some winters are just like that - some years it beautiful and still and the next it feels like living inside a tumble drier - set to very cold!

This was a lovely weekend though and set me up for the rest of the tour.
