Part of my Hentilagets project that aimed to honour the women who created the Shetland Lace patterns while also running the crofts. I used patterns that had names linked to the Shetland crofting environment.
This window lace was made in fine silver wire. I used patterns associated with the domestic environment. the lace at the bottom is the Braand Iron Lace. The braand iron was used to cook on over the open fire. The border is the Tree of Life and the middle, the candlelight pattern.
Some folk tell me they can see faces in this picture, can you?
