Alternative Jewellery Workshop - Driftwood Necklace - Sunday 29th June 2pm - 5pm SOLD OUT

Always a delight to find when beachcombing, these small curls of silver birch bark float to Shetland’s shores from Canada. Holding them reminds me of those distanced through emigration from Shetland. We are blessed with these small reminders of faraway landscapes and the vast ocean between us.

During this workshop you will be invited to create your own Driftwood Jewellery to treasure. 

We will begin by examining real life pieces of silver birch bark driftwood and look at Helen’s examples. You are also welcome to bring your own for inspiration.

You will explore techniques to texture your piece using special tools. You will leave with your own unique jewellery and a new appreciation for nature! 

You will be given silver and 24ct gold leaf and a sterling silver chain. You will explore mark making using a selection of tools, a metal block and hammers. You will learn how to apply gold leaf to your sample, form and solder the final piece.

There are 5 places on this workshop. 

My Shedio is accessible and has toilet facilities. Please wear old clothes and bring reading glasses if you use them.
